BEBA (Building and Enhancing Bonding and Attachment)

BEBA supports families to resolve prenatal, birth and other early trauma, both physical and emotional, while facilitating the development of compassionate relationships, the healthy growth of children, and effective parenting. BEBA’s clinical, research, training and educational programs are dedicated to healing early trauma and strengthening primary bonds.

Healing Grounds Therapeutic Gardening Program
$4500 for Computer Equipment
Healing Grounds, operated in conjunction with Transitions-Mental Health Association, combines an organic nursery and a therapeutic horticulture program. The nursery produces the finest quality organic vegetable and herb seedlings for sale to the public. Healing Grounds connects people to nature through classes, workshops and lectures about sustainable landscaping and gardening.

NCCJ (National Conference for Community and Justice)
$4000 for Program Support in Santa Barbara County
NCCJ is a national nonprofit human relations organization that promotes understanding and respect among all races, religions, and cultures through advocacy, conflict resolution, and education. The Central Coast regional chapter of NCCJ is dedicated to fighting bias, bigotry, and racism in Santa Barbara, Ventura, and San Luis Obispo counties.

Quail Springs Learning Oasis and Permaculture Farm
$3500 for Program Support
Quail Springs is a land-based learning center in the Cuyama Valley. Programs include residential internships for adults, residential "apprentorship" programs for teens, family camps, service learning, tree planting gatherings, experiential natural building opportunities and workshops, permaculture design application and training, mentor and youth worker trainings, nature awareness and relationship building workshops.

Santa Barbara Dance Alliance
$2000 to support the 12th annual Multi-Cultural Dance & Music Festival
The Multi-Cultural Festival (August 19 & 20, 2006) celebrates the rich cultural diversity of our community with dance and music performances, as well as foods and crafts from many ethnic traditions. Santa Barbara Dance Alliance promotes the awareness and quality of dance and other performing arts in Santa Barbara, and provides support and connections within the dance/arts community.

Storyteller Children’s Center
$3000 for the Reggio Emilia Program
Storyteller provides quality, tuition-free early childhood education for homeless and at-risk children in Santa Barbara County, as well as comprehensive support services for their families. This grant supports implementation of the Reggio Emilia educational philosophy at Storyteller.

Wilderness Youth Project
$4000 for Program Support
Through mentoring, Wilderness Youth Project inspires and guides youth, adults, and families toward finding, expressing, and manifesting their inherent gifts, using nature as a starting point for personal exploration and growth. WYP programs facilitate development of life skills, integrity, and ecological understanding. This grant supports two components of the Peacemaker’s Journey: Storyweavers and Homesteaders.
